Evaluations used to be a common part of weapon pages throughout the Fantastic Frontier wiki. They were reviews of weapons that would help suggest to players if they should or shouldn't use a certain weapon and why. Evaluations were started in the summer of 2020 by the wiki staff C18wos, with other editors contributing with their own evaluations. Evaluations have been discontinued since February 26, 2021. Any future evaluations found in pages will be removed without any prior notice. Additionally, all evaluations in this post are prone being outdated to the current version of the game. No one on the wiki staff team is responsible for updating already existing evaluations or adding new evaluations to this blog post.
The Brainstaff has high DPS and short range. The special can output very high amounts of damage in a short period of time. It is tied with the Blade of the Throne for 2nd place of highest base damage for magic weapons.
Celestial Powers Spellbook
The Celestial Powers Spellbook has high DPS and amazing range. The special does not hit very hard but it is amazing for crowd control. The basic attack can do insanely high damage per hit if charged fully. This is an amazing magic weapon and is worth using.
The Darktoad Spellbook has very high DPS with its special. The special ability's range is short and will lock you in place upon activating it. This spellbook has the ability to heal the player for each hit which is very useful. This weapon is recommended for all mages.
The Firesoul Spellbook has mediocre DPS and amazing range. This weapon has more farming DPS than the Darktoad Spellbook. However, it is replaced by any other magic weapon after it and not recommended as the player can save for the Darktoad Spellbook and keep it forever.
The Frontier Spellbook has top tier DPS and amazing range. The special can increase the player's DPS and mobility allowing them to dodge and attack with ease. This spellbook is highly recommended for use as it has the highest DPS of all projectile magic books.
Greater Storms Spellbook
The Greater Storms Spellbook has top tier DPS and short range attacks with aoe. The special ability however has amazing range. This spellbook is recommended for its powerful ability and aoe control.
Nature’s Wrath Spellbook
The Nature's Wrath Spellbook has low DPS and short range. The special ability can heal the player up to 300 hp. However, the special ability will slow down the player and make it difficult to maneuver leaving them open. This weapon is decent but it is outclassed by the Darktoad Spellbook with over 200+ magic bonus. It is useful to classes who don't rely on magic bonus.
Staff of Dreams
The Staff of Dreams has good DPS and varying range. The basic attack can be charged to deal with crowds as it can pierce, while the special attack can be instantly deployed to deal a massive close-ranged burst of damage.
The basic attack is hardly anything special. It can be charged (or not). Charging it makes it deal more damage but it can also be spammed to deal low-damage balls of energy. This is not recommended as the nascent balls are weak and move slowly.
The special ability has very high damage and a low cooldown which can make it spammable. This weapon is very useful in special chains as it has higher damage and lower cooldown than the Greater Storms Spellbook. This is perhaps the best part of this weapon, as the low cooldown and high damage make it very spammable.
If you have a different weapon to deal more sustained damage (such as a Salamander) you can switch to the Staff of Dreams to deal a frequent burst of damage. Nonetheless, this weapon is quite situational and best suited for mages or magic-focused builds only. If you are a mage, perhaps consider adding this to your arsenal.
Wicked Junk Spellbook
The Wicked Junk Spellbook has Top Tier DPS and good range. The special ability is great for dealing damage to large bosses, after the special the basic attack speed increase is a nice touch for extra DPS. This spellbook is great for large bosses and recommended.
Ore daggers are cheep and nimble weapons, though they aren't very effective for combat due to their low damage output and short range. Daggers shine in their use as a transportation tool for early game and mid game players by utilizing the dagger's long dash and quick attack speed to swiftly propel themselves across the Frontier.
Ore greatswords are the longest reach and have the most powerful attack of all the ore weapons. Their destructive swings can hit multiple opponents and clear crowds with ease. This power comes at a cost though, since the weapon can feel clunky because of its long attack animation and heavy stamina usage. On top of that, they are slightly more costly than the other ore weapons of the same tier.
Ore rapiers are the fastest ore weapon in a beginner's arsenals. Their eloquent lunges allow the wielder to quickly approach and attack enemies without being in harm's way. To maximize the efficacy of the weapon, the wielder must practice good spacing to ensure that they can escape retaliations from the enemy. Additionally, the weapon has a very high dps, allowing the wielder to swiftly rip through tougher enemies with relative ease. Despite all of these great traits, rapiers fall short when confronted with multiple enemies because of their linear attack which isn't very capable of hitting more than a single target.
Scimitars are the jack of all trades when it comes to ore weapons. It may not have the high dps of the rapier or the raw power of the greatsword, but it does have its own benefits. The weapon handles well because each attack is easy to control and allows the wielder to dodge incoming attacks with ease. This makes scimitars one of the most beginner friendly weapons and can help teach any new melee player the fundamentals of the other melee weapons that they may pick up in the future.
The Advanced Rapier can dish out very high DPS for its cost. The special of the Advanced Rapier can aid in dodging attacks. It is strongly recommended for newer players.
The Ancient Sword performs poorly compared to weapons of a similar price. The sword performs similarly to the Gold Scimitar which costs 140,000 less gold. One of the only reason a player may want this weapon is because of its appearance as a fashion item. For players who want a weapon that performs better for its price may want to look toward buying a Onyx Scimitar for higher base damage or the Hook Scythe for a special attack.
The Ancient Treesword provides high damage per hit at a very low cost. The special can be very useful for hitting enemies whilst dodging at the same time. This weapon is powerful but it is sluggish, consumes large amounts of stamina and generally not recommended for use.
The Angel Greatsword has average DPS and the special ability has good range.
The special ability can be used to deal with large crowds and for doing a bit of extra damage, the effect is almost instant. The basic attack is nothing special, it is just like most other greatswords. This weapon is a great choice for dealing with large crowds of enemies as it can hit from afar and spread the damage.
The Blacksmith's Hammer has decent DPS, however the range is not too amazing, the animation makes it hard to move and hit at the same time. The Blacksmith's Hammer gets outclassed by most greatswords, scimitars, and rapiers. It is overall a pretty mediocre weapon and not worth buying.
Blade of the Throne
The Blade of the Throne has good DPS and amazing range. The caster form is great for hitting enemies from afar and handling crowds. The caster form is also useful for hitting enemies through walls which can help in the nightmare dimension. In sword form it is tied with the Brainstaff for 2nd place of highest base damage for magic weapons.
The Buzzing Sword has low DPS with mediocre range. Additionally, the slow effect is terrible and barely noticeable. Overall, it is not worth buying.
The Contramagic Blade outputs great DPS despite it lacking a special ability, though it will force you to fight much closer to the enemy.
The Corrupted Rapier has insanely high DPS, the range is viable. The special ability is not worth using as it locks the user, thus forcing them to go in one direction. It is an incredibly powerful weapon for it's cost, it is worth buying.
The Crypt Blade has high DPS and the special is more suitable for close proximity
The basic attack is nothing special, it is just like most other greatswords. The special ability has super high damage and has very low cooldown so it can be used frequently. The special ability is very useful to assist in dodging attacks. Consider adding this to your arsenal as it can provide great burst damage.
The Demon Greatsword has average DPS, the range is mediocre.
The special is useful for fighting in a close proximity. Using the special is risky as the forward momentum can put the player in danger. However, the damage it provides is great for clearing crowds or just to add a bit more damage to your attacks. The basic attack is nothing special, it is just like most other greatswords.
Eyeball of Reckoning Ultradagger
The Eyeball of Reckoning Ultradagger has good DPS and short range.
The weapon itself is commonly used by all classes for its special ability. It is recommended for all classes to have this weapon as it can increase DPS. The extra 8.775% of damage is great for doing loads more damage. It is highly recommended to use this weapon no matter what class.
The Fantastic Greatsword has low DPS and decent range. The special has a long cooldown and low damage, this weapon is not recommended. The special ability can hit through walls which may make it useful for use in the nightmare.
The Featherblade has good DPS for its stage of the game. The special is useful for hitting multiple enemies at once. This weapon is recommended for its cheap price.
Frail Wooden Sword
The Frail Wooden Sword is the weakest weapon in the game. The damage is very poor and as such should only be used by those who just started the game and can't afford a better weapon.
The Frontier Greatsword has high DPS and good range.
The special is great at clearing crowds, but using it will lock the player in place so it is very risky to use. This weapon is outclassed however the basic attack is great for clearing enemies with ease. Perhaps consider adding this to your arsenal. However, it is outclassed by the Honoring Blade and Red King Greatsword as they both cost less than this weapon and perform better.
The Grandsword has low DPS and the range is mediocre. The special 'Grand Smash' is useful for hitting crowds of enemies. It is a very sluggish weapon and overall not worth using.
The Grass Rapier has a decent performance compared to the weapons of its price. The weapon performs identically to the Onyx Rapier with a difference of only 1 less damage. It's up to personal preference whether a person wants to use an Onyx Rapier or the Grass Rapier.
The Great Scimitar has low DPS. The special ability 'Threefold Advance' is not worth using as it can put the player in danger and limits mobility. This weapon is outclassed and not recommended to use.
The Honoring Blade has excellent DPS and great range.
The special ability 'Magma Scorch' can handle crowds with ease, the special also provides great damage over time. The one downside to the special would be the fact that it takes magic bonus and not melee as it's commonly used by melee users. However, the player can use the ability and swap weapons to do even more DPS. It is often recommended to use the Red King Greatsword and other high DPS weapons. This weapon is an excellent choice and highly recommended to use.
The Hook Scythe has decent DPS, as for the range it is great. The special is great as it can control crowds and deal damage at the same time. This weapon being obtainable easily makes it shine in early game.
The Inferno Hammer has decent DPS, however the range is not too amazing, the animation makes it hard to move and hit at the same time. The Inferno Hammer gets outclassed by most weapons. It is overall a pretty mediocre weapon and not worth using.
The Inferno Sword performs poorly compared to weapons of a similar price. The sword performs similarly to the Gold Scimitar which costs 220,000 less gold. One of the only reason a player may want this weapon is because of its appearance as a fashion item. For players who want a weapon that performs better for its price may want to look toward buying a Onyx Scimitar for higher base damage or the Hook Scythe for a special attack.
The Jade Superhammer has mediocre DPS and the range is decent. The special is not worth using as it locks you in place. The weapon itself hits hard, however it leaves you open during combat as you cannot maneuver.
The Kotono has great DPS and the range is mediocre. The special is also very spammable. This weapon is good because of its fast attack rate, which will allow you to attack whilst dodging.
The Power Axe has bad DPS and the range is mediocre. The special's forward momentum can put the player into danger, making it risky to use. This weapon is not worth buying as it is easily outclassed.
Red King Greatsword
The Red King Greatsword has top tier DPS and mediocre range.
The special is very useful for dealing large amounts of damage. However, the special takes a while to activate leaving the player open while in combat. This sword is an excellent choice for melee users as it provides excellent DPS.
Red Power Fists
The Red Power Fists have top tier DPS, but the range is quite short.
The special however has infinite range; it is useful for sniping from afar. The damage this weapon provides is also excellent as the attack speed is fast. Perhaps consider adding this to your arsenal. However, it is outclassed by the Pureblood Dagger if used in a build consisting of 1 stat.
Rusted Coin Scythe
The Rusted Coin Scythe has good DPS and the range is good. The special is very useful for taking care of crowds as each hit heals.
Silver Crystal Ultradagger
The Silver Crystal Ultradagger has top tier DPS and the range is quite short.
The special allows you to attack faster, making it very useful for doing insane amounts of damage in a short amount of time. The attack speed increase scales with your magic bonus, making this weapon highly favorable for mages.
The Tri-Blade Shifter has good dps and amazing range.
The blade stance is very useful for swiping to clear enemies. The spear stance is very useful from hitting enemies from afar. The drift stance is very useful for dealing with large crowds as it can do massive damage after drifting for more than 2.4 seconds. This weapon is very useful for melee users who are looking for something versatile. Perhaps consider adding this weapon to your build.
The Ultrablade has decent DPS and good range. The special is useful for utility and for drifting through mobs.
Void Spike Ultradagger
The Void Spike Ultradagger has mediocre DPS and excellent range. This weapon is only worth using if you have low defense, using it with high armour points is not recommended. However, this weapon is easily outclassed and therefore not worth using.
The Whapper Sword has low DPS and mediocre range. The special is useful for crowds. This weapon is outclassed by other weapons in its price range.
The Zodsword provides high damage per hit at a very low cost, similar to its counterpart the Ancient Treesword. The special is a nice touch, with a low cooldown. This weapon is powerful but it is sluggish, consumes large amounts of stamina and generally not recommended for use.
The crossbow simply is a waste of money. While it is the only weapon that can accept more than one type of ammunition, the bolts or ammunition it accepts are far outclassed by the Pipe Rifle's damage and cost-efficiency, which can be obtained for free as a quest.
Dragon King’s Lance
The Dragon King's Lance is a powerful weapon when used properly. Its long reach allows for high damage with great range when used right.
The basic attack is a simple poke but due to the reach of the weapon, you can deal damage from a great distance away. It is recommended to combo the Lance with walkspeed bonuses as this will allow the user to quickly back away to maintain stabbing distance. This is essential to proper use as the main draw will be your ability to deal damage with a melee weapon without being hit. Spacing is key with this weapon.
The special attack is hardly anything of note, although it has a niche in PvP for being able to quickly close the gap between players. Overall, since this Lance ultimately takes both ranged damage and practice to use best, it is a niche weapon best used by a melee/range hybrid. Rangers should consider other weapons (namely guns) when constructing their arsenal.
The Stargun is an incredibly powerful firearm that sees use by many rangers. Like most ranged weapons it has no special ability, and the Stargun itself has lower overall base attack, but it compensates through sheer DPS.
The standard attack of the Stargun is a simple shot, however holding down on the left mouse button unleashes an automatic stream of bullets. This lets multiple bullets hit a target quickly allowing for players to deal high damage in seconds.
All rangers are highly advised to pick up this weapon in order to solidify their endgame status. Even a ranger with midgame ranged bonuses can find themselves completing the Otherworld Tower thanks to the Frontier Stargun. Even once a ranger can pick up the Ratboy Handgun, the Stargun can still be useful thanks to its automatic fire and high fire rate. Once again, all rangers should add the Frontier Stargun to their arsenal as soon as they get enough money to purchase one.
Gnome Rocket Launcher
This weapon is absolutely incredible. High damage, big explosions, and no damage bonuses. This means everybody should use this weapon as soon as they can buy it.
There is no special ability but the left click releases a rocket that flies at very high speeds exploding on impact to damage all enemies near the blast radius. This attack is incredibly deadly given the Rocket Launcher's high rate of fire meaning you can shoot a massive salvo of rockets to unleash heavy damage.
The Gunfists are very strong ranged weapons. Their versatility factored in with their damage allows for them to be a smart choice for all rangers. Their cost also has the added bonus of accessibility.
The initial left click is a shotgun blast. Despite the name, the bullets do not fan out as far as a typical shotgun and are usually best used to control small crowds of multiple enemies. Pressing the special key (R) switches to gatling mode. This mode increases the firerate and allows for automatic fire. Consider this form a weaker version of the Frontier Stargun due to its lower base damage.
All rangers from midgame to endgame are highly advised to add this weapon to their arsenal. It is cheaper than most high-end firearms allowing players an easier time raising money to purchase stronger weapons such as the Frontier Stargun. This weapon also has great versatility in its mode-shifting ability allowing for it to have multiple uses out on the battlefield despite only taking up a single weapon slot.
For those trying to decide between the Frontier Stargun and the Gunfists, consider buying the Gunfists first as they will be very useful for defeating stronger mobs and clearing tougher content. However players should also buy the Frontier Stargun at their earliest opportunity afterwards as its power cannot be matched by the Gunfists.
The Funky Driftlander is not a weapon. It is a tool. It does very little damage and will not stop upon hitting a target, unlike the drifting mode on the Tri-Blade Shifter.
The left click will propel users forward until they stop holding down the mouse button. This is very useful for all players as the speed bonus is quite useful for traveling long distances.
The special ability is hardly anything special but can be used as a "brake" of sorts since it will halt your movement once the animation ends. This ability deals decent damage in PvP and can be used to charge at players from far away.
All players are highly advised to add this weapon to their arsenals. This tool has a niche for allowing for very fast movement. While its combat is below average, the utility is unparalleled. All players should use this for quick travel in the frontier.
For beginning rangers looking to up their game, this weapon is for you. The left click is a single shot dealing the standard early game damage.
Consider buying this if you are a ranger who has become comfortable with the Pipe Rifle because this will be your first upgrade. Once you can actually afford it.
After your purchase, continue slaying mobs until you can afford better range-boosting armor and eventually upgrade your firearm game once again.
The Marksman's Rifle is a solid weapon perfect for the aspiring Ranger looking to break into the midgame. Purchasing this weapon will grant you the firepower needed to continue upgrading your arsenal.
This weapon is once again the standard single shot rifle. However, it is 50% stronger than the next tier down (the Hunting Rifle) so if you're in the market for a stronger rifle, buy this one.
Consider buying this if you have outgrown your previous firearms and need to take the next step up in power. Just make sure your armor also gives you ranged damage bonuses as well.
Overall, the Pellet Gun is a cheap and cost-efficient way to hunt birds and small game like Grey Rabbit, other than that, it has no practical usage whatsoever since it's damage output is 1, and that it receives less ranged bonuses, so if you wish to gain an actual gun for hunting monsters, consider doing Arnold Slime Quest to achieve the Pipe Rifle, an entry-level Rifle for early-game rangers.
The Pipe Rifle is a fantastic entry-level rifle. It can be obtained for free and is relatively strong, offsetting the potential risk of buying bullets (however, they can become costly for early-midgame) .
The left click fires a single shot that deals decent damage to early game mobs. This is as standard as rifles get in Fantastic Frontier, so be sure you get used to this weapon if you're going to become a ranger. Like all rifles in Fantastic Frontier, it suffers from a slow rate and being the weakest out of the rifles in-game, has the worst damage of them all, so be sure to replace it when you can.
All players looking to become rangers are highly advised to obtain this weapon. The next strongest firearms are all single shot rifles so be sure to master the use of the Pipe Rifle if you are looking to become a ranger.
The Ratboy's Handgun has very high DPS. It also has the highest base damage of any ranged weapon in the game making it a great choice for rangers looking to maximize their potential power.
The special ability is great as it can save you time and bullets when killing mobs with high amounts of hp. However, this tends to be very situational as for the most part players will be killing their targets in only a few shots and won't need to be using the special skill.
You should definitely consider buying this weapon regardless as it is very strong. It has all the strengths of its previous ranged weapons with a better firerate and a unique special ability. Not to mention the higher base damage and the bonus included with all ranged weapons like increased engagement range. Consider adding this to your arsenal ASAP.
The Jade Twin
The Jade Twin is a very class-specific weapon as it is best used only by users who use both ranged and magic weapons (magic rangers). Any other class is better off purchasing the Blade of the Throne.
The Jade Twin in its standard form is a typical sword that swings quickly and moves the player forward slightly. This form has formidable DPS but can be risky due to the short range of the blade as well as the forced forward movement.
The Jade Twin in its alternate form (achieved by pressing "R") has very long range and spam capabilities. Although the projectiles move slow and can be very laggy, shooting multiple allows for high damage dealt witihn seconds. These projectiles travel far and pierce through enemies allowing this weapon fantastic crowd control.
Only players who excel in both magic and range should purchase this weapon for their arsenal. It is one of the few weapons designed solely with them in mind and carries not only melee capabilities for close-ranged mobs but ranged capabilities and great crowd control. This weapon is very powerful but only when used in the right hands.
