Hey As8D, apologies for not getting back to you sooner.

That's an impressive map you've put together, looks really neat! Unfortunately, advanced JS isn't my strong suit, but I've conferred with my fellow WMs and they've offered some general suggestions/advice.

Due to the complexity of the interactive map, it should ideally be embedded onto a Special page of its own. This is because mobile devices aren't going to be able to see it in the mobile skin, so it should be on a page type that is expected to be interactive. Since mobile device users make up over half of Wiki visitors, this is quite a sizeable chunk of people who won't be able to use it.

I'm aware that the maps are likely to be consulted by users while playing the game on PC, but many often use mobile devices to access info out of convenience (particularly when they don't wanna leave a full-screen game).

Basically, as a best practice, the most accessible version (for all platforms) should be visible on an article page, and JavaScript should only be used to enhance the simple experience.

In this case, the most accessible would be the static map(s), which would ideally be in an article of its own, viewable to everyone, while the interactive map would be on a separate Special page for those who wish to (and have the means to) delve deeper into the info available. This page might be helpful:

Sorry if it's not as in-depth as you were hoping, but it may point you in the right direction for how to proceed. Let me know how you get on! :-)
