The Portabato Mushroom is one of the many harvestables that can be found in the Frontier. They are often seen in huge groups, scattered throughout the grounds of various locations of the Frontier that include the following:
- Blackrock Mountain
- Farm Fortress
- Greenhorn Grove
- Petrified Grassland
- Rubble Spring
- The Forgotten Lands
- Topple Hill
- Topple Town
It can also be obtained as a possible drop from Potatobirds, a bird commonly found in the Frontier.
The Portabato Mushroom possesses a cubic-shaped potato growing in the center of the cap. Its cap is brown, resembling the color used to depict dirt. Furthermore, it is supported by a small, white stem that keeps the harvestable together.
Players can consume the Portabato Mushroom in order to restore 8 HP back to their health pools. Other than that, the Portabato Mushroom can simply be sold to a selling vendor at a selling price of 50 gold.
- The Portabato Mushroom is named for its portability, meaning that it can be carried around. The word 'Portabato' is a portmanteau of the words "portable" and "potato," and is also a play on the name of the common real-life mushroom, the Portobello.
- As of the Ratboy's Nightmare Update, a similar variant was introduced, known as the Western-style Portabatos. It is a meal composing of several roasted Portabato mushrooms that restore 300 HP.
