Pickaxes are tools used by players specifically designed to mine ores and gemstones that can be found in the Frontier. All currently known pickaxes are ore-based, following the same 'tier' or 'strength' similar to the tiers of the ore-based armor set: Bronze, Iron, Cobalt, Titanium, Gold, and Onyx. However, gems cannot be crafted into pickaxes and other tools/equipment as of the 1.10 (Fishing) Update.
High-tiered pickaxes such as the Onyx Pickaxe and the Gold Pickaxe performs much better than pickaxes that are considered to be low-tiered. The "high-tiered" it is, the better and faster it is in terms of efficiency and its convenience in-game.
All currently known pickaxes are sold by a vendor known as Benny Oreman, located in Topple Town. If a player has questions about anything relating to mining ores, they may interact with the Mining Shop Assistant who is there to assist Benny Oreman.
